Jermain Johnson signs for Bradford City
By Kayon Raynor Observer staff reporter
Tuesday, June 06, 2006
Jamaican international Jermaine "Teddy" Johnson has signed a one-year
contract with English League one side Bradford City, subject to a work
permit. This was confirmed yesterday by football agent Phillip Graham,
who disclosed that Johnson agreed contract terms and passed a medical
last Thursday.
The 25-year-old Reggae Boy, who had stints with Bolton Wanderers in the
English Premiership and League One side Oldham, is excited about this
latest development in his career. "I'm feeling real pleasant again to get
back a chance to play in England," said Johnson He added: "I can't wait to
go out there and play my best, because I've learnt from the last time... I
made plenty mistakes so I just need to go out there and do my best and
please everyone."
Johnson, who scored eight goals to help Tivoli Gardens finish third in the
Wray and Nephew National Premier League this season, explained how
the experience makes him even more thirsty to succeed in English
football this time around. "To be playing in Jamaica is not a high level for
me and I really need to step up back my game... returning to England is
going to be a better chance for me to get back in the game focussed to
do my best again."
Johnson revealed that he is due to travel to England on either June 27 or
28 to begin training alongside fellow Jamaican Donovan Ricketts on June 29.
Brian Rose, manager of Tivoli Gardens FC, told the Observer he hopes
Johnson will make full use of this new chance. "It's a good opportunity for
Teddy to get focussed and become a professional footballer again. I hope
he'll grab this opportunity with both hands and move on from here."
He added: "I know it's a stepping stone for him, Johnson has been guided
and given full advice, so I know he'll make good on this chance." |

May 07 Update
==========
Jermaine Johnson earned a transfer from Bradford City to Sheffied
Wednesday in the Championship.
He has performed well for Sheffield Wednesday but has been hit by a run
of bad luck. Suspension, injury, and recently, the chicken-pox, has caused
Jermaine to miss precious playing time.
Check Teamtalk.com and www.swfc.co.uk for updates on Jermaine's career. |
